Room to Bloom is a student-led campaign organized by Algonquin College’s Public Relations program. Its goal is to raise awareness and funds for Harmony House, Ottawa’s only second-stage shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

Many members of our team know firsthand what it takes to rebuild a life after hardship—and we recognize that no one does it alone. We were deeply moved by Harmony House’s mission to not only provide safety, but to restore dignity and empower women and children to reach their full potential. Their work aligns with our values, and we’re proud to support a space where healing and growth can truly take root.

Unlike emergency shelters, second-stage shelters like Harmony House provide longer-term, fully furnished apartments along with supportive services such as counselling, childcare, and job training to help survivors transition to independent living.

All proceeds from the campaign go directly to Harmony House, helping fund housing, childcare, counselling, and other vital services for women and children in need.

Room to Bloom is a fully student-managed campaign, guided by faculty advisors. This is an opportunity for us to use the skills and knowledge we learn in-class to make a difference in our community.

Supporters who are unable to attend are invited to donate, purchase wish list items, and share our posts on social media.
