Frequently Asked Questions
-
Culture2Culture is a student-led campaign organized by Algonquin College’s Public Relations program. Its goal is to raise awareness and funds for OCISO, the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization.
-
We chose OCISO because its mission reflects the lived reality of our team and the city we call home. Ottawa is a mosaic of cultures, shaped by newcomers who bring their languages, traditions, and perspectives to the community. Many of us on the team are immigrants or the children of immigrants, so we understand firsthand how essential strong settlement supports are when building a new life in Canada.
OCISO’s programs—ranging from mental health services to youth mentorship, employment support, and community integration—provide the kind of resources that help newcomers not just settle, but truly thrive. Supporting OCISO is our way of giving back to an organization that strengthens the fabric of Ottawa and ensures that every newcomer has the opportunity to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered.
-
All proceeds from the campaign go directly to OCISO, helping fund youth services, counselling and employment opportunities, as well as language support programs
-
Culture2Culture is a fully student-managed campaign, guided by faculty advisors. This is an opportunity for us to use the skills and knowledge we learn in-class to make a difference in our community.

Supporters who are unable to attend are invited to donate, spread the word about OCISO and the events coming up, and share our posts on social media.
